CFE BLK with the 200 FTX panned out better than expected. The range was too wet to walk out to 100 yards so these 5 shot groups are at 50 yds. 35.0, 35.5 & 36.0 are where SD started to stabilize in the teens. Magnum primers may help this but I horde them for big doses of RL 25 in my 7mm Mag. Best group was at 36.0 grains (COAL:2.560") with avg. of 2267fps. Brass looked good & recoil is a peach. The blue line on my dummy load is where the base of this bullet is seated. My velocity is right where I want it, so I'll just load some more at 36.0 to confirm these results at 100yds.…

COAL of 2.560” fits in my 18” SSK in Encore - CBTO of 2.040”

Have a ladder test (CFE BLK) waiting for a range day. My Speer 180 load (AA1680) is getting 2470 suppressed & grouping them inside of 1 3/4” at 100 yds. I agree, the real performance will come out of one-shot platforms.

I am hoping to work up a load w 140gr Barnes copper solids. Was thinking H110/W296. Has anyone tried either of those powders? Shooting a Henry.

I used the data from Hodgdon with a few substitutes with great result:

Here is what I loaded for my 360 Buckhammer on a TC Encore frame with a 22” MGM barrel.

-Hornady 200gr FTX COL. 2.55

(bullet not on the lands)

-CFE BLK 36.5grs

-WLR Primer

-2379 fps.

I shot from 50 yards. Groups consistently touched some same hole. this cartridge has great potential for single shot rifles.

No signs of high pressure on the primer or the action. Since I’m losing for a single shot I’m able to seat the bullet out so I don’t have to mess with a compressed load. I spent a lot of time trying out many different bullets and

in the end the factory 180 gr from Remington and Federal

are perfect for the Illinois deer I hunt. I posted the deer somewhere on this site and a target from the federal 180gr.
